Safe Youth World Wide Namibia will collaborate with two NGOs namely;
NAPPA is a registered welfare organization that was established in 1996, and have been a member of the International Planned Parenthood Federation since 2002.
NAPPA’s aim is to contribute to the reduction of HIV infection, STI's and teen pregnancies. It also advocates gender equity and advances sexual and reproductive rights of young people. The main strategies is that of capacity building by training young people as peer educators, condom promotion and advocacy. NAPPA implements its programmes in four regions in the country, targeting young people 10-24 years of age, parents, community as well as religious leaders.
The Safe Youth World Wide initiative will be implemented in the Windhoek Rural Constituency, in a settlement called Dordabis. About 1000 young people will be targeted and reached through several activities employing the same strategies of training of peer educators, community leaders, parents, teachers as well as healthcare providers. The project will also strengthen the managerial capacity of the organization through the involvement of staff in the programme planning, implementation and monitoring functions. Ombetja Yehinga Organization was established in 1999, although full implementation of their projects only started in 2001. The organization mainly works in three regions of Namibia and address issues of HIV prevention for young people through schools and teachers. The organization actively advocates for young people through theatre drama, news letters and youth clubs. They have as well facilitated socio-cultural research in Namibia. The Safe Youth Worldwide initiative will collaborate with the Ombetja Yehinga Organization to not only strengthen the existing activities in the three regions aimed at youth, but also build capacity with in the organization to support the sustainability and accessibility of these services. |
