About Global Partners
Planned Parenthood's Global Partners is
Planned Parenthood Federation of America's
international public policy and service initiative. One way Global Partners works to promote sexual and reproductive health rights is by arranging "partnerships" between Planned Parenthood affiliates and family planning organizations in other countries.
There are two main objectives to these partnerships. One is to improve and expand service delivery and sexual health education in the communities the "partners" serve. This objective is met through the exchange of information. In a colleague-to-colleague collaboration, the partners share their experiences, trade skills, and ultimately learn from each other how to strengthen their respective programs.
Another goal is the mobilization of a lasting constituency for US assistance and technical support to family planning programmes abroad. To date, almost twenty such partnerships have been formed among agencies from Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Caribbean, and Europe.
